Terms & Conditions
The following is a summary of Captain’s Auction Warehouse’s bidder and consignor terms. All bidders and consignors are responsible for reviewing the full terms applicable to each auction, registration platform, or consignment agreement. Auction-specific terms may vary and will control where applicable.
-
Buyer’s Premium & Payment
A Buyer’s Premium of 18% will be added to the hammer price of each lot.
Accepted forms of payment include cash, ACH, wire transfer, approved business check with bank letter of guarantee, and major credit cards. Credit card payments are subject to a 3.5% processing fee. This fee is separate from the Buyer’s Premium and is non-refundable.
No merchandise will be released until the invoice is paid in full.
Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax will be charged unless a valid resale or exemption certificate is provided. Sales tax applies to the hammer price and Buyer’s Premium, but not to credit card processing fees.
Registration
All bidders must register before participating in an auction. Registration may require full name, permanent address, phone number, email address, valid payment method, and government-issued identification.
For new or unverified bidders, Captain’s Auction Warehouse may place a temporary authorization hold of up to $100 on the credit card provided. This is a verification hold only and is not a charge.
International bidders are welcome but must make prior arrangements with our office before bidding.
As-Is / Where-Is
All items are sold AS IS, WHERE IS, with no warranties expressed or implied. Descriptions, photographs, and catalog listings are provided for convenience only and are not guaranteed.
Bidders are encouraged to inspect items before bidding. No refunds, returns, deductions, or chargebacks will be accepted based on condition, description, photos, or buyer expectations.
Ownership & Risk of Loss
Once the auctioneer declares an item “SOLD,” ownership and risk of loss transfer to the buyer.
Pickup, Removal & Storage
Buyers are responsible for removing purchased items at their own expense, risk, and liability.
Unless otherwise stated in the auction-specific terms, items must be removed within the removal period announced for that auction. Items left beyond the stated removal period may be subject to storage fees, penalties, or abandonment.
Captain’s Auction Warehouse reserves the right to charge storage fees for items not removed on time. Items left for an extended period may be deemed abandoned without refund.
Shipping & Transportation
Buyers are responsible for all shipping, transportation, handling, customs duties, taxes, brokerage fees, export requirements, documents, and related costs.
Captain’s Auction Warehouse may offer palletizing, packaging, and shipping coordination services depending on the size and weight of the item. Please contact our office for availability and quotes.
Default / Non-Payment
If a buyer fails to pay an invoice in full, Captain’s Auction Warehouse may charge the card on file, resell the item, apply storage or late fees, suspend or revoke bidding privileges, and hold the buyer responsible for any deficiency, fees, costs, or collection expenses.
